The $MONEROCHAN thesis 1. Alt-pairs of programmable chains don't make sense on solana Pairing a meme against the token of a chain like arbitrum, near or starknet sounds like an easy narrative: "the X community gets its own memes on Solana." But follow the incentives. A foundation's whole job is to bring activity, users and fees to its own chain. Liquidity that lives in a Solana pool, trading on Solana rails, doesn't help that. Even more now that pump is starting to integrate every chain because there is no friction between buying an altcoin on solana and buying an altcoin on the specific chain (hello @rhubonarb) But monero nor zcash are programmable chains, they are SoV and as such it makes way more sense for them to have the leading altpairs on solana. 2. Stonkfun over pump I don't have a strong view on $STONK itself, but I do think the STONK team has way less influence over the trenches than the pumpfun team does. That creates more room for a solana coin to trade on its own merits, without being constantly pushed around by external forces. On the pump rails, a coin's fate depends on two things it can't control. The first is the team. Whether alon and co. decide to engage, push or feature a coin can change its trajectory overnight. The second is the cabal. Whether the usual crew decides to bundle and crime a fresh ticker that week can drain attention and liquidity from everything else. A STONK pair is less exposed to both. It's not anyone's flagship, so there's no one who's necessarily going to save it or kill it. It has more room to find its own market and trade on its own merits. I love $BATON and still stand by my thesis on it, but its fate is partly tied to whether pump decides to engage with it. We saw how much it dumped yesterday when they shifted their push to pills and $MITCHI. 3. The meme itself Monero-chan isn't a ticker someone made up last week. She's the orange-and-black mascot girl of Monero (XMR). She dates back to Japanese crypto-girl art from 2017, and since 2021 she's been carried by the Monero Community Art Fund, where artists are paid in XMR donations. She has years of fan art and an actual culture behind her, and privacy is one of the few narratives in crypto that never really dies. The funny part is that last year CT spent weeks shilling a different monero-chan, sold as a "privacy project" 4. The chart: just check XMR price action: an altpair only works out when its quote token has a strong upside potential. The higher the coin goes the more vocal its token holders will be and the more popular its memes will become. Summary - A cleaner quote than chain-token alt-pairs, whose foundations want activity elsewhere - A neutral rail that depends less on team moods and cabal cycles - A meme with real history, real art and a narrative that keeps coming back - $XMR gonna go up so $MONEROCHAN too
